Our hearts go out to David Gabriel and Jennifer Gabriel at the loss of Dash, their cherished Mastiff and family member to Necrotizing Fasciitis. It started in his rear paw a on Thursday and was thought initially to be a soft tissue injury. He saw another vet day Friday and was put on antibiotics, and then our vet on Saturday and was put on an additional antibiotic and received laser therapy. He seemed to get better and started eating again but then declined quickly Monday May 12, 2025 with a massive lower GI bleed and died. His back leg was still massively swollen.

This sucks big time. We are all devastated and shocked by his passing. 

Dash just fathered 17 puppies with Faith and Reese at the end of last year so his legacy of gentleness and greatness will live on. He was 3 points away from his championship and we had planned to get those points this summer. We co-owned Dash with Dave and Jennifer and thank them for all the love they gave him in his short lifetime.

Dash is buried in our Forest of Remembrance with Sherlock and Diesel (Dave and Jenn's other mastiffs which we also co-owned) amongst many of his other relatives.

Size: Dash is 185 pounds at 3.5 years old

Testing:  Dash is a carrier of the long haired gene,  is negative for DM, PRA, CMR1, and Cystinuria by DNA. OFA Cardiac, OFA Eyes and OFA Thyroid clear. OFA Hips shows mild dysplasia in one hip due to mild subluxation, PennHip  shows  mild OA on the Right hip and that Dash's hips are tight and only at mild risk of OA, OFA elbows clear.  His parents etc. are clear for Hips and Dash will stay in the breeding program.
